Desert Island Products - Bath, Body & Skincare

The second part of my Desert Island Products focuses on Bath, Body and Skincare Products.

Bathing

These are just three of my favourite bathing products. I love many others, such as Lush bath bombs, but they are a treat whereas these are more regular uses.

First up are two  products from The Body Shop. Polynesia Lotus & Frangipani Flower Bath Milk is usually around £10, but is currently on sale for £7 on the website. It doesn't create lots of bubbles but smells yummy, and the smell lingers on your skin afterwards. The Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float is currently on sale at £10.50, and it does exactly what it says. I always seems to have a really good night's sleep after having a bath with this stuff, and it leaves my skin really soft. Again this doesn't produce lots of bubbles but makes the bath really milky.

I have a lot of problems with my back and often suffer with large knots and extreme aching in my shoulders and neck. Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak is a deep-heat aromatherapeutic remedy to body aches and pains and is a must for anyone who regularly exercises and suffers from aching muscles. I'm not going to lie and say it smells gorgeous, it smells similar to most muscle products, with a strong smell of clove and menthol, but personally its a smell I like. It retails for about £32, and apparently Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud is also a fan!

Body

This is another Elemis muscle product - Instant Refreshing Gel (RRP £27). It's similar to Deep Heat and has basically the same effect, but smells nicer and instead of having the warming it cools instead. I use this when my shoulders are really really stiff, either before bed, or sometimes during the day if necessary.

This is a product that should need no introduction, and some variety of it is probably on every girl's (and some guys!) bathroom shelf. The Body Shop body butters and scrubs are practically world famous, and have their own celebrity following - including The Saturdays. The scrub and butters usually retail for about £12 each, but again they are slightly cheaper at present. I personally love the coconut variety, as the smell makes me think of holidays, but the Mango one is also a favourite.

I like to use a separate scrub and cream for my feet to my body. The skin on your feet is much harder and thicker, and even if its usually soft, it still requires more intense treatment that the rest of your skin. The Body Shop Peppermint Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub is currently selling on the website for £5.75, and the Intensive Foot Rescue is £6.75. I like to slather my feet in this and then put on cotton socks to let it soak in. My only gripe is that all foot treatments seem to smell of peppermint - does anyone know why that is? Sometimes I'd like something a little more - well flowery!

Skincare

I am a massive fan of Clarin's skincare! It took my a long time to find a skincare routine that worked for me, and this is it. I'm not going to go into the details of why, who and how, here, as I think it deserves its own post. My skincare routine is not cheap, but skincare is a good investment.

I currently use Clarins Gentle Refiner once every fortnight. This is £24.50, and has tiny little microbeads, which barely feel like they are scrubbing anything, so this isn't good if you want your face to feel like it has been scrubbed within an inch of its life!

On a daily basis I use Clarins Extra Comfort Cleansing Cream, RRP £24.50, for the tub in  the picture, Hydraquench Intensive Serum RRP £40 (instead of toner) and Hydraquench Rich Cream RRP £33.50. I also use Eye Contor Gel - £28, when I remember, but I'm quite bad at this as I never remember until I actually feel tired or anything.

I'm not going to do a big review of my skincare here, as I'll do that in my follow up post.

My final Desert Island Products post will be on make up.

What do you think of these products? Do you use any of them?

    1. I'm going to do a post about my search for the perfect skincare routine - I went through 3 or 4 other brands, but my friend gave me the best advice, which was to go for a facial with the brand your considering, so they can really get to know what your skin needs.
