In this tight economic climate everyone is always on the look out for a fashion bargain. I'm not much of a web shopper but I do have some thrifty tips for any debt-ed divas out there!
Pucci for Pennies
If your a bit of a designer dolly bird and just can't be without your Gucci, Oscar De La Renta, or Herve Leger, but could most definitely be without the designer price tag - then renting could be the way forward. Girl Meets Dress allows you to rent dresses for £29 for two nights with emergency next day delivery. There are also many websites offering designer handbags and shoes to rent. The bonus of sites like this is you get the thrill of having something new without the guilt of the price tag and you get to stay on trend all the time!
Charity Shop Chic
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will already be more than well aware that I love a good old charity shop rummage! However, if you like the idea of charity shopping, but couldn't bare it if - god forbid - someone actually saw you in one! But fear ye not, for Oxfam, the clever things, have set up an only charity shop! Honestly! Oxfam Online allows you all the good karma of buying second hand without having to give up your well deserved Saturday-morning lie in! Double bonus.
If your strapped for cash you may have read loads of 'fashion for less' articles in magazines. Many of these articles suggest holding a 'swapping-party' with your friends. This is all well and good - if you and your friends are all the same size!!! However, if like me, you like a bit of diversity and variety in your friendship group, but would still like to do some swapping, there are now a number of websites out there that allow you to do this online, Big Wardrobe is one such site - you can quickly sign up via your facebook account and get swapping straight away!
As much as I love a good rummage, and a bargain, I absolutely HATE sales! Everything looks like a unloved jumble sale, everything is on the floor, getting trod on, and if you eventually do find something, you can guarantee you can't find it in your size! The way to avoid all this is by shopping the sales online. For the famous Next sale, they have offered people time slots in order to shop their sale stock. Many other high street stores such as New Look, and River Island offer sale items online. A lot less hassle, more choice and often, a better size selection!
Finally, there are a number of sites out there, that are purely there for bargains!
- While I'm on the subject Boohoo.com is excellent for providing current trends at rock bottom prices. The great thing about Boohoo is that if there is a trend you want to try but aren't too sure about, their prices are so cheap its doesn't matter so much if you don't wear it that often, as usually happens with some of those high fashion trends.
- There was no way I couldn't do a post on money saving fashion tips without including Ebay. If your willing to sit and trawl through the 1000s and 1000s of pages, your guaranteed to find a gem! For double the fashion bargains, sites like Goofbay and Fatfingers trawl for mis-spelled items on Ebay, which means less people will be bidding and watching, meaning you get more for less!
